Nourishing everyday skincare routine

The key to a flawless complexion and supple skin begins with your skincare routine. The wide range of self care paraphernalia out there means it can be tricky to find body and skincare products that are right for you. On top of that, if you’re like us and are concerned with how products are made and tested it can be confusing to work out which ones are cruelty free, sustainable, and ethical. To make it all simpler we have launched a new pared back body and skincare range and we’re going to tell you how they’re made as well as how to use them.

The importance of clean and moisturised skin

Our skin is our largest organ so it's really important that we treat it well in order to keep it healthy and happy. You should wash your face twice a day in order to remove makeup, oil, dirt and other debris. Even if you don’t wear makeup, the skin on your face can still come into contact with residue from other skincare products like moisturisers and sun protection, as well as pollution, oils, sweat and dead skin cells. Washing twice daily will prevent such residue from building up and causing acne and other skincare problems.

Moisturising your face and body is just as important as cleaning it. The right moisturiser can help to prevent dry skin, providing you with a smooth complexion and potentially slowing the signs of ageing. Freshly moisturised skin has a healthy sheen, which can improve skin tone and texture as well as supplying you with a smooth canvas for makeup on the days that you might wear it.

How our products are made

Not only are our products beautifully scented, but they’re also made with sustainable palm oil. This means the palm oil used in our soaps has been grown and farmed responsibly in an effort to conserve natural resources and biodiversity, as well as protecting workers. In an extra effort to look after the planet, all of our packaging is recyclable. All of our products are also free from parabens, SLES and SLS, which is great news for your skin. Parabens, SLS and SLES are chemicals that can be harsh on your skin and are often found in many strong cleaning products. They cause the skin to feel dry and rough, which is why we never use them. As well as avoiding ingredients that are harmful for the planet or for your skin, we have conducted thorough cruelty free testing to establish that none of our products are tested on animals.

Why we chose our scents

Lavender and Camomile: Both lavender and camomile contain anti inflammatory properties, making them ideal for those that suffer with red blotchy skin and acne. The word lavender comes from the Latin word for washing, highlighting its long term association with cleanliness and calm.

Fig: Figs are a great source of many enriching vitamins, antioxidants, and minerals, helping to balance your skin, making it an everyday essential for those with combination skin. The fig scent is deep and luxurious, perfect for pampering.

Rose and Geranium: Both rose and geranium are known for their calming and hydrating properties on skin, making them a must have for those with dry or irritated skin. These classic English flowers are subtly fragrant and will leave you feeling refreshed and restored.

How to use our body and skincare products

Step one: Wash

All good skincare routines should start with a wash or a cleanser and our collection of cleansing soaps are the perfect way to start and end your day. Our gentle soaps are ever so versatile and can be used on you face, hands and body. Currently available in three gorgeous scents - Lavender and Camomile, Fig and Rose and Geranium - you’re sure to find one that best suits your skin type. Use with warm water and a muslin cloth for gentle exfoliation on the face.

Step two: Moisturise

Moisturisers have many functions, with the main purpose being to keep your skin hydrated. They do this by holding water and moisture in the outermost layer of the skin, helping to create a smooth, soft surface as well as a protective barrier against the elements. Our handbag sized hand creams are formulated to help nourish and revive the skin and can be used on the hands, body and face. The non-greasy and lightweight creams are fast absorbing for a quick fix, wherever you are and should be used daily to keep the skin supple and soft. Not only do our aromatic hand creams smell divine, they also soften and nourish your skin with their blend of natural oils and extracts. If you’re struggling to choose between hand creams, then why not check out our mini hand cream set, which includes a trio of scents.

Step three: Lip Care

While we regularly focus on hydration for the face and body, we often forget about hydrating our lips. Our lips are exposed to the elements every minute of the day, from the dry air of your hot office to the intense cold when you go outside in winter and the changing climates can be a lot for your lips to endure. Lip balms are an excellent way of keeping your lips hydrated and chap free. The lip balm in our hand and lip care kits are made with coconut oil, which is scientifically proven to hydrate your skin. Regularly applying the scented coconut oil lip balm helps to maintain healthy skin and provides a smooth base for lipstick. Our lip balms are available as part of our Rose and Geranium hand and lip care kit and Fig body care kit
